Case Report

Several case reports suggest that topical 10% metformin cream may be a promising treatment for central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA), particularly in patients unresponsive to standard therapies. In one case, a 69-year-old African American woman with stage 4a CCCA showed substantial hair regrowth after 6 months of daily metformin cream use, following five years of limited success with minoxidil, corticosteroids, and triamcinolone injections.
